Bucharest, 17 December 2024 – The Institute of Financial Studies (ISF) has, starting this week, a branch in Chisinau, based at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, which aims to strengthen the framework for assessment and training of specialists in the financial market in Moldova, to establish academic and research partnerships, but also to increase the level of financial education among consumers across the Prut.
This initiative is part of the provisions of a broader cooperation protocol concluded between the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF), the Institute of Financial Studies, the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (ASEM), the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) and the National Commission for Financial Markets (CNPF).
The cooperation protocol was signed yesterday in the presence of Mr. Gabriel-Ioan Avrămescu, First Vice President of ASF, Mr. Valentin Ionescu, President of the ISF Board of Directors, Mr. Cătălin Câmpeanu, Secretary General of ISF, Mr. Alexandru Stratan, Rector of ASEM, Mrs. Anca Dragu, Governor of the NBM, and Mr. Dumitru Budianschi, President of the CNPF.
This protocol also provides for the development of the implementation framework for the financial education and inclusion program of the Republic of Moldova, the organization of workshops on non-bank financial market issues, the development of joint educational activities aimed at increasing the level of financial knowledge and skills, as well as supporting the creation of the necessary framework for the training and certification of insurance distributors.
"This initiative is a major step in the development of sound and modern financial markets in the Republic of Moldova. The ISF branch in Chisinau will become a catalyst for financial education, professional training and the promotion of best practices in the financial sector", said Mr. Gabriel-Ioan Avrămescu, First Vice President of ASF.
Through its presence in Chisinau, the Institute for Financial Studies will respond to the needs of the financial markets in the Republic of Moldova, train local specialists in insurance, private pensions and capital markets, raising standards and encouraging the adoption of European practices, and contribute to increasing financial literacy among the population and improving confidence in the financial system.
The Institute of Financial Studies is a centre of excellence in the field of non-bank financial markets founded by ASF, which provides training, professional development and specialization of people active in the financial field, grants professional certificates, publishes specialized publications and organizes information and education activities in the field of non-bank finance at national and international level.
