The Financial Supervisory Authority celebrates financial education during World Investor Week

Bucharest, 7 October 2024 – The Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) organizes, from 7 to 13 October 2024, under the aegis of the ”World Investor Week” (WIW), a series of actions and events dedicated to financial education. These aim to raise awareness of the importance of non-bank financial markets for students, young people and the general public.

The WIW Week started on Monday at the Bucharest Stock Exchange, in the presence of over 100 students from the ”Iulia Hașdeu” National High School and the ”Nicolae Kretzulescu” Economic High School in Bucharest who took part in the symbolic opening of the trading session and an interactive workshop on capital markets and investments. Students from the two high schools also took part in a financial education competition.

During WIW week, now in its eighth edition, ASF will run a series of financial education activities aimed at pupils, students and adults.

ASF lecturers will hold financial education classes at the ”Mircea cel Bătrân” Technical High School in Bucharest, as well as Academic Laboratories, in partnership with the Institute of Financial Studies, at the ”Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad and the ”Babeș-Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca. They will also hold a workshop as part of the Financial Wellness program, dedicated to members of the Body of Expert and Licensed Accountants of Romania (CECCAR).

In addition, ASF specialists will give presentations on financial topics at specialized conferences taking place this week in Arad and Cluj-Napoca. Also, during WIW week, Depozitarul Central will offer the IBAN code registration service free of charge.

World Investor Week is an event initiated by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). The Financial Supervisory Authority is a member of IOSCO and in this capacity supports the efforts of the organization, which launched the World Investor Week concept in 2017, aware of the need for financial education in the context of a changing financial market and an increasingly risk-taking behavior.
