ESMA renews public call for input on draft guidelines on the use of ESG or sustainability-related terms on behalf of funds

ESMA has returned with a call for input notice published on 18.11.2022 on the Authority's website in order to gather input from stakeholders on the Draft Guidance on the use of ESG or sustainability-related terms on behalf of funds (Consultation Paper On Guidelines on funds’ names using ESG or sustainability-related terms): https://www.esma.europa.eu/press-news/esma-news/esma-launches-consultation-guidelines-use-esg-or-sustainability-related-terms.

To this end, ESMA is organising on 23.01.2023 a public debate of interest to investors and consumer organisations, investment firms, UCITS management companies and external alternative investment fund managers (AIFM) when providing investment services. The public debate will address the following topics: the rationale behind this initiative, the minimum proportion of investments sufficient to support the terms "ESG" or "sustainability" in the name of funds (thresholds), additional recommendations proposed for funds using the terms "ESG" or "sustainability" in their name, and stakeholder feedback on the consultation paper.

All interested stakeholders are welcome to register for this debate until 19.01.2023, based on the indications provided in the notice which can be consulted at the following address: https://www.esma.europa.eu/press-news/hearings/open-hearing-consultation-esg-terms-in-funds%E2%80%99-names
