Bucharest, 29 March 2022 - The Financial Supervisory Authority welcomes the adoption by the Chamber of Deputies of the Law establishing 11 April as Financial Education Day.
Romania needs to increase the uptake of financial education, both among the general public and among pupils and students. This is the only way we will be able to have developed financial markets and well-informed consumers who can make informed financial decisions.
"Early financial education is a strategic direction of action for A.S.F. and represents the cornerstone for the paradigm shift in terms of Romania's future place in the rankings of countries with a high degree of financial education. Financial Education Day will be a good opportunity to celebrate every year the importance of this field, which has fundamental implications for the economic development of Romanian society", said Mr Nicu Marcu, Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Authority.
Since 2015, when A.S.F. launched its financial education programmes, and to date, the Authority's lecturers have given lectures and presentations to almost 4,000 teachers, over 18,000 students and around 162,300 pupils in all levels of education.
