Romania, re-elected in the Executive Committee of the International Organization of Pension Supervisors

Bucharest, 27 October 2021 - Romania will hold for another two years (2022 - 2023), through the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF), represented by Mr. Daniel Armeanu, Vice President - Private Pension System Sector, the position of member of the Executive Committee of the International Organization of Pension Supervisors (IOPS).

Daniel Armeanu, Vice President of ASF:Re-election to the Executive Committee confirms the recognition by IOPS members of Romania’s interest and contribution, through ASF - Private Pension System Sector, to projects on the development of standards, principles and good practices in the regulation and supervision of private pension systems. Romania, represented by the Financial Supervisory Authority, as a member of the Executive Committee, will be involved in consolidating the principles regarding the activity of regulation and supervision of pension systems at international level”.

The International Organization of Pension Supervisors is the most representative international organization in the field of private pensions, has 87 members and brings together supervisory authorities of private pension systems from 77 jurisdictions worldwide. Furthermore, including the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and the World Bank participate as associate members in IOPS meetings.

The Executive Committee is the main management structure, which sets the objectives of the organization, coordinates the activity and ensures the proper management of its resources.

The main purpose of IOPS is to improve the quality and effectiveness of the supervision of private pension systems around the world.

IOPS is an independent international body, whose members are represented by the authorities responsible for overseeing private pension schemes. IOPS works to set standards for pension supervision and regulation, promotes international cooperation in the field of pension supervision, provides a global forum for dialogue on the supervision of pension systems, and promotes, leads and facilitates research, in cooperation with relevant international bodies.
