Bucharest, 5 February 2024 - The Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) warns the general public not to follow up, under any circumstances, telephone proposals for investments or fund transfers from certain persons claiming to represent the ASF and using an application that fraudulently generates calls identifying themselves as the Authority's TelVerde number 0800 825 627.
Recently, there have been several reports of voice phishing (vishing) fraud attempts on behalf of the Financial Supervisory Authority, and people who have taken up such "offers" have been defrauded of large sums of money.
We reiterate that the Financial Supervisory Authority:
The Financial Supervisory Authority advises anyone planning to invest in the financial market to use only authorised firms and to inform themselves thoroughly before putting their money in one instrument or another.
If you are suspicious about a call, please stop communicating right away. To make sure the call is genuine, contact us by phone (0800.825.627/004 021.305.34.70) or email (office@asfromania.ro). Also, if you encounter fraud attempts or suspicious activity, report these immediately to the relevant authorities.
