Press briefieng

Bucharest 11 April 2023 - The financial education programmes and actions carried out by the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) since the declaration of the Financial Education Day and until now (11 April 2022 - 11 April 2023) have reached an audience of approximately 100,000 people.

The work over the past year has focused on diversifying financial education actions and programmes, including in the online environment, as well as addressing vulnerable target groups in terms of financial education. The tailoring of financial education actions and programmes was carried out according to the target groups, taking into account knowledge needs, level of general knowledge, specific channels and communication mode for each audience, etc.

Today, April 11, 2023, ASF lecturers are present in 7 foster homes in Constanta, Iasi, Cluj and Ilfov county, where young institutionalized people are staying, to give financial education courses, as part of the Start4Life program, launched last year on the occasion of Financial Education Day. The ASF programme was specifically designed for institutionalised children and young people, a vulnerable group who, at the age of 18, leave the welfare system but lack the necessary knowledge to help them manage their personal budget wisely. In this context, financial education is an important component for the financial inclusion of these young people and their future well-being. The programme is designed to work towards a number of long-term objectives, both to meet the financial education needs of different generations of children and young people and to provide a continuum of education and support. It will be carried out in a recurrent approach, to ensure that the concepts taught are well understood.

So far, ASF has carried out 26 educational actions involving 614 children and young people in several placement centres in Brasov, Calarasi, Cluj, Dâmbovița, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sibiu and Teleorman counties.
