ASF has published the reference rates for compulsory RCA insurance policies

Bucharest, April 10, 2020 - The Financial Supervisory Authority (A.S.F.) has published the reference rates for compulsory auto policies (RCA), according to the provisions of Law no. 132/2017 regarding the compulsory insurance of civil liability for damages caused to third parties by vehicle and tram accidents.

The reference rates were calculated, according to the legal provisions, by an independent company - Ernst & Young Assurance Services SRL - according to: vehicle categories (cars, freight vehicles, passenger vehicles, etc.), type of insured (legal person / natural person), the age of the insured persons in the case of natural persons, as well as the technical characteristics of the vehicles (cylindrical capacity or power, maximum authorized mass, number of seats).

"From the analysis of the tariffs published today we notice that there are no significant variations from the previous ones, which indicates a stability at the market level. We are talking about marginal, normal developments for a free market. We are paying close attention to the tariffs on the RCA market and we are ready to take all legal measures to prevent any imbalances in this segment, "said A.S.F. Vice President, Mr. Cristian Rosu.

Changes in the estimated reference rates for each risk segment are mainly generated by the evolution of the damage during the reference periods taken into account during the two calculation years.

The publication of the reference tariffs represents an approach that leads to the increase of transparency, to the information and to the transmission to consumers of correct and complete information regarding the RCA policies. The reference rates do not represent the rates at which the RCA policies in the market are concluded.

The reference rates for each category of motor vehicle and insurance can be consulted here.
