Press Release regarding of the meetings of Supervisors of ESMA and EIOPA

Bucharest, 30th of May 2019 - The Financial Supervisory Authority - Autoritatea de Supraveghere Financiară (ASF) - hosted meetings of the Board of Supervisors of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) in Bucharest in the course of May.

These were part of the regular series of meetings held annually by the decision-making bodies of the two Authorities.

During EIOPA’s 2019 Strategy Day the discussions focussed on the interaction between the micro- and macro-prudential instruments in addressing financial stability risks in the insurance sector and on the application of innovative technologies in supervision.

ESMA has discussed informally with its Members of the Board of Supervisors the strategic objectives of the Authority for the next few years as well as the framework for investor protection.

"As a member of EIOPA and ESMA, we are committed to the work of the two European Authorities, both at the decision-making level and in working groups and standing committees, through our members of management and experts. We are delighted to have been the host of these two high-level strategic meetings that have given rise to a content dialogue on relevant, topical issues for the development of financial markets," said ASF President Leonardo Badea.
