Bucharest, 4 October 2022 – The Institute for Financial Studies (ISF) and the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) are organizing the first session of the financial education course for primary school teachers during World Investor Week, as part of the StartFIN programme.
StartFIN, for the training of primary school teachers in the field of finance, is a free program accredited by the Ministry of Education, which offers the development of specific financial education skills suitable for students in grades 0-4.
The program is accredited for 4 years online and runs for 40 hours, with 20 hours organized online synchronously and 20 hours organized asynchronously, thus offering the advantage of remote participation to teachers from all over the country.
StartFIN includes two modules that teach comprehensive financial education and is the first program of this kind available and appropriate to the needs of beneficiaries. To complete the program, participants must prepare an educational portfolio which will be assessed by a panel of financial experts. Graduates of the program have the possibility to have 10 vocational training credits recognized.
The aim of the StartFIN program is to develop technical knowledge specific to financial markets for primary school teachers, thus contributing to the dissemination of financial concepts among students. By supporting such economic and financial training courses for teachers, the chances of financial inclusion of the younger generation are considerably increased.
The participants are provided with study materials (textbooks, assessment tools, applications and other teaching tools) and are assessed using methods that follow standard assessment principles.
For 2022, ISF and ASF are offering the opportunity to train 500 teachers in StartFIN for free. Places are filled on a first-come, first-served basis (applications should be sent to startfin@isf.ro), with the number of participants limited to 25 people/series. If this limit is exceeded, people will be enrolled in the next available series.
In the 21 days since its launch, the StartFIN program has registered 1,625 applications and 372 participants have already been selected to participate in training sessions.
